Today is the final day of the 16 days of activism for the elimination of violence against women and girls. Today is also International Human Rights Day – because women’s rights are human rights, and human rights are women’s rights.

On Day 16, we ask for your solidarity – today and every other day of the year.

A great way to support victims and survivors experiencing or who have experienced domestic and sexual violence is to simply show up! There are so many events happening across Northern Ireland in support of victims and survivors, to demand action to keep people safe and to protect victims at every level. Just by turning out for these events you are lending your voice to a movement for change that will help so many people!

Showing up to these events is also a great way to meet like-minded people, share ideas, learn from other activists and see how action can facilitate change. As an activist, you might have knowledge or experience from other causes or campaigns which could be helpful to share. Or if you’re new to activism, it can be a great way to learn how to go about it!

Keep an eye out for events in your area by following us on Twitter and Facebook, or depending on what issues you are interested in, you could join one of a number of local activist groups: Reclaim the Night , Reclaim the AgendaSoroptomists, Mothers’ Union, Women’s Institute, or Belfast Feminist Network
