Omagh Women’s Aid attended an event organised by Omagh PCSP in partnership with the South West Age Partnership. The event focused on Crime Prevention Awareness and was held in Strathroy Community Centre on Wednesday 19 March 2014. The event was targeted at Senior Citizens of the 5 Omagh Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Omagh; Mullaghmore, Strathroy, Campsie, O’Kane Park, and Gallows Hill/Johnston Park.

Women’s Aid provides a range of services to women of all ages including refuge and a floating support or outreach service, where we can visit women in their own homes. Elder abuse is a major concern and a focus of Women’s Aid. A report released by the Department of Health and Comic Relief estimates that 227,000 older people were neglected or abused in their own homes in the past year – and domestic abuse was clearly a significant part of this.
